Trump About to be Crowned, Half the Country is Fine with it.

Hi all. Sorry, it's been a bit since my last update. With the holidays and wedding and the news being dominated by the sham trial of Trump in the Senate, I tuned out for a few weeks. But, here I am and with the acquittal of Trump by every Republican Senator only a few hours away, I figured I'd check back in and recap the landscape of our shitshow of a country.
So, as predicted, the Senate trial is a complete farce. Mitch McConnell started off the whole thing basically saying he'd do whatever the White House told him to do.
That's basically a juror admitting he'd do whatever the defendant wanted. Except instead of the stakes being a rape or murder, it's the fate of our entire country. Of course he received some push back from the public after that. And of course he didn't care. What the public is not getting is that Mitch isn't speaking to you all when he says the trial won't have any teeth. He's only speaking to an audience of one super orange Fox News viewer.
Anyways, after some public push back the Republicans figured they probably should at least go through the motions so they don't look TOO corrupt. Or maybe because the House Democrats refused to even move the trial forward without some kind of assurance that there would even be a trial in the senate. Either way, Republicans decide they can just do a quick discussion and you know, witnesses and evidence? We can decide if that's necessary after we talk for awhile. Again, back to the murder trial analogy, this is like the Judge (and Jury in this case) telling the prosecutor, "You can't show the murder weapon or have any first hand witnesses on the stand. Lets just talk for a few hours and decide if we need to go any further."
So yea, after Republicans spent days in the House impeachment trial screaming "No first hand accounts!" at the top of their lungs as some kind of ward to all things evil, the Senate has access to first hand witnesses (Lev Parnas and John Bolton both have said on record they were in direct contact with the President over the Ukraine scandal. Lev Parnis has released numerous audio and video tapes.) But no, they don't ACTUALLY want first hand witnesses to be on record in the trial. They just want to cry that there aren't any. Again, lets beat a dead horse with the court trial analogy. After the judge decides the prosecution can't call any first hand witnesses or evidence of the crime, the defense says "There aren't any first hand witnesses, there's no evidence." as their main argument to end the trial now and not have any first hand witnesses on the stand. Now you see why I've been tuning out for the past few weeks? It's enough to give me a brain aneurysm from banging my head against the wall.
So yea, Trump's about to be King. Let's hope he doesn't realize how little accountability he has now that the ONLY method for removing a sitting President is off the table. Well, there is one more; a fair and free election by the people. Of course, the fact that he's on trial with a wealth of evidence showing the lengths he'll go to make sure there isn't a fair and free election doesn't bode well...And this was how he was back when the threat of impeachment was actually over his shoulder. Like you'd have to imagine a little nagging voice in Trump's head saying "The Dems can impeach you. Maybe be a little careful. Never know what will happen then." Now there's absolutely no teeth, nothing any apparatus can do to stop him. If he decides to start jailing people like Parnas or Bolton who go against him, there's not some magic police force like the FBI or Secret Service that will stop him. The head cop in the country is literally in his pocket. Let's hope by the time he realizes he can do just about anything to win this election it will be too late and November will have come and gone.
Of course, even if there's "no malarkey" by this President in the election (There absolutely will be), we have to come to the realization that a good portion of the people in this country WANT this. As of this very moment, while he skates by a completely damning and corrupt impeachment trial, his approval rating is the highest its ever been.
So yes, its pretty depressing and embarrassing, but King Trump may just be what enough of this country wants to keep him in office for four (or more?) years.
