Republicans Are Cool With Child Molesting, But Draw the Line if You Support Reality

Hey y’all, so yea my once a week blog post may have been a bit ambitious. I want to push out more content, but I also realize that this is a hobby, not a job for me. If I push out content simply because I set a deadline and I have nothing I want to passionately talk about, I feel that content may suffer. These past few weeks I just didn’t feel I had anything important to say that wasn’t already being said everywhere. So, I’ll stick to my schedule for now of “whenever I feel like”. Quality over quantity, right?
So yea, things again may seem nice. Biden is running a normal Presidency, we don’t have to hear Trump tweeting every day, everyone who wants a vaccine is able to get it. We have a government being led by people who ACTUALLY want to get some policy done. Yes, very little of it may actually get done since the drive to alter the filibuster within this election cycle appears to be quite dead, but still, could be worse. Trump could still be in charge and we’d be far behind the curve for vaccinations.
But, just because we don’t hear from Trump and he isn’t running our country into the 7th circle of hell anymore, it doesn’t mean the effects of him aren’t still reverberating across our political landscape. The GOP has completely lost their minds, and while Biden runs a quiet administration and we all tune out because “politics is boring again”, they are purging their ranks of any dissident voices behind the scenes.
But before I get to that, I want to talk about our good friend, Florida Representative Matt Gaetz. You may remember him from a blog I put out last year about how fun he is, and how much he absolutely loves to get on his knees for Daddy Trump. If you didn’t read that blog, here’s the recap: He’s a spoiled rich kid frat bro who lives off his actual father’s wealth and reputation, and has used it to make a DUI disappear.
Of course, even if you don’t know all that, Congressman Gaetz is probably still known to you due to his recent and very public headline appearances. That smug punchable face of his really matches the bill for the recent shit he’s been wrapped up in, with a federal investigation underway into sex trafficking, bribery, and drug use:
“Investigators are looking into whether Gaetz paid an underage woman for sex and enticed her to travel across state lines to meet him. The Associated Press reported last week that the probe has expanded into whether Gaetz attempted to secure government jobs for his paramours, as well as whether he enabled friends to improperly influence and profit off of marijuana legislation.”
“Gaetz traveled to the Bahamas in 2018 along with several young women and Jason Pirozzolo, a doctor and founder of an organization that advocates for expanding medical marijuana legalization. Federal authorities are now investigating whether Pirozzolo gifted Gaetz escorts’ services, hotels, and flights in return for advocacy and sponsoring legislation, which could amount to a charge of public corruption. Gaetz has a track record of advocating for medical marijuana and has supported legislation that would ease certain laws affecting the drug. He is at the center of a Department of Justice sex trafficking investigation over an alleged relationship with a 17-year-old and payments to women for sex.”
Reports that Gaetz is a sleazy drug using corrupt party animal really shouldn’t be a shocker at this point. Much like Chief Justice Kavanaugh, he comes from a line of Frat Bro’s who grew up on “its just locker room antics”. And thanks to his daddy’s reputation and big purse, has coasted through life and into a Congressional position with zero effort from his part.
Of course, Gaetz denies all accusations, trying to rile up the Republicans in the “Dems are out to get me, its all a conspiracy" angle. And I mean, it just may work. It’s not like his party or the voters of the GOP actually care about facts for, well, anything, anymore. Just their gut and their “feelings” about the “establishment” conspiring against everyone fighting the good fight and trying to keep America whole. Thinly veiled coding for antisemitism and white supremacist remarks that people like Tucker Carlson peddle in all day on their show.
Even more shocking and hilarious, reports came out from sources in the White House at the time that Gaetz had heard about the coming FBI investigation months ago, and begged Trump for a blanket pardon for him and his allies.
“In the final weeks of Mr. Trump’s term, Mr. Gaetz sought something in return. He privately asked the White House for blanket pre-emptive pardons for himself and unidentified congressional allies for any crimes they may have committed, according to two people told of the discussions.
Around that time, Mr. Gaetz was also publicly calling for broad pardons from Mr. Trump to thwart what he termed the “bloodlust” of their political opponents. But Justice Department investigators had begun questioning Mr. Gaetz’s associates about his conduct, including whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old that violated sex trafficking laws, in an inquiry that grew out of the case of an indicted associate in Florida.”
The hilarious part about it is, even though Trump pardoned dozens of his cohorts in the final weeks, Gaetz wasn’t among them:
“Aides told Mr. Trump of the request, although Mr. Trump said in a statement on Wednesday that he had not discussed the matter directly with Mr. Gaetz. Mr. Trump ultimately pardoned dozens of allies and others in the final months of his presidency, highlighting his willingness to wield his power to help close supporters and lash out against the criminal justice system.”
Guess you should’ve used more tongue on ol’ Donnie when you were on your knees, Matty.
So, with all these serious charges levied against Mr Gaetz, you’d think he’d be a pariah in his own party right now, at the very least under intense investigation and scrutiny, and stripped of any committee roles. Well, no. Bribery, attempted pardoning, sex trafficking, illicit drug use, all of this doesn’t warrant ousting from the Republican party. In fact, Gaetz is out campaigning and having great crowds show up to support him like hes a Messiah in GOP enclaves like the Villages:
The hypocrisy of the standards for office between Republicans and Democrats is larger than the Grand Canyon here. Do you remember Al Franken? Yea, ages ago back in 2017 I know, but he got caught up in a minor scandal where a woman accused him of forcibly kissing her during a skit rehearsal, and then a photo of him jokingly hovering his hands over her boobs while she slept. Are these allegations a joke? No, they should be taken seriously, but it was also a decade before, and Al Franken admitted he was over the line. We aren’t talking about sex trafficking or rape. Potentially over the line actions a decade ago and depraved humor at the expense of a young woman. After pressure from across the political spectrum, including near frothing at the mouth from the GOP and Fox News hosts for his head on a spike, Al Franken quickly resigned his position.
So, yea in 2017 an allegation of getting a bit handsy from a decade before is enough for a Democrat to quickly resign. But paying for sex with a minor, prostitution, corruption, and rampant drug use don’t cut it for removal in the GOP. You know what does warrant complete removal, though? Stating basic facts about Trump and our election.
I’m talking, of course, about Liz Cheney. She is facing a whole heap of political trouble from her party, and has recently been voted out of her leadership position by the GOP, and the Republican Party is most certainly going to put all their weight into a Primary challenger next election to oust her completely. What did she do to receive such an attack from all of her colleagues? She said there is no evidence that the election was stolen and that Biden won legitimately. That’s all it takes now to be removed from one of two major political parties in America. Say that we had a free and fair election and our current President is legitimate.
This reaction should scare the shit out of everyone. We are still reeling from the effects of Trump's Presidency and most of the country can’t really process what happened on Jan 6th fully due to shock, but that was a love tap compared to what’s coming down the pipe if this is the new standard for Republican governance.
I’m not exactly a fan of her policies or the fact that she voted with every other Republican for Trump at every turn, but the fact that someone that is pretty far into right leaning ideology is now being completely ostracized from her party should be extremely disturbing to all. It’s highlighting just how big of a problem we have brewing for this country that has only two major political parties: One is turning so far into right extremism that even a Far Right person of five years ago is seeming too tame for them. We’re normalizing the conspiracy of our very political process. We squeaked by this last election with Republican mobs nearly overthrowing voting count locations across key states, and taking an unscheduled tour of Congress by force. What do you think is going to happen next election when all of their Representatives and Fox News and OAN and Trump are still saying the election was rigged, when a complete lack of evidence makes no difference?
There really is no reason anymore to support GOP politics in this country. If you believe in conservative values and small government and limited welfare support, I disagree but the bigger conversation is that that party doesn’t exist anymore. Liz Cheney is pretty far right into that conservative ideology and the party is STILL kicking her out for apparently stating basic facts about our election. For Christs’ sake, Mitt Romney of all people was boo’ed IN UTAH, the most homefield of all homefields for that magic pajamas wearing 1 percenter, for speaking out against Trump:
Trump and the GOP has shifted the Overton window so far in the past 5 years that they need to make a new scale for it. We are all being completely desensitized and normalized to this insanity, and as the very few people left in the GOP are ostracized and primaried out, all we are going to be left with are Tucker Carlson wannabee’s and Matt Gaetz. Apart from one or two people with the balls to speak out, we're already basically there. And when they use all of their voter suppression tactics to win back Congress and the Presidency, we will continue to watch our country be looted and sacked by those in power while a good 40% of voters believe they’re winning as long as they think they’re owning the Libs.
